Toasted Marshmallow Mocha Latte

Toasted Marshmallow Mocha Latte

Most mornings I’m perfectly ok with my “Plain Jane” coffee. Sometimes though, I like to add a little pizazz. During October I always think about Marshmallows, pumpkins and chocolate. Although those flavors combined might be fabulous in a dessert, not so much in a coffee. I’ll take marshmallows and chocolate though! A toasted marshmallow mocha latte?! Yes! Let’s do this!😉

How To Make Toasted Marshmallow Syrup

To get the toasted marshmallow flavor you’ll need to create a simple syrup, or you can purchase one. To make it, start by adding 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar to a medium saucepan.

Place it over medium heat and allow it to come to a gentle simmer. In the mean time toast 10 marshmallows. Try to avoid charring them as this will result in a bitter taste. A golden brown to a dark brown color is the perfect toastedness…is that word??

Add in the marshmallows. They will puff up like they will bubble over, but don’t be alarmed, it will go down and dissolve into the sugar water creating a beautiful honey color. Once this happens (about 5 minutes ) you can turn the heat off and allow the syrup to cool slightly then stir in ½ tsp of vanilla extract.

Use a fine mesh strainer to get any toasted bits out and then transfer to a glass jar for storage. This syrup will last a month in the fridge. Now you’re ready to make a toasted marshmallow mocha latte.
